Early Japanese Art


 
  1. Jomon Culture 10,500 -300 BC The best known artworks from the Jomon period are the bold "cord markings" pottery vases, jars and figures. This is from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Timeline of Art History.

  2. Jomon Fantasy is a very interesting article on an archeological dig in 1999 that found ceramics in northern Japan that date to 16,500 BC.
