Special 2005 Exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum


 

From July 12 - September 18, 2005 the Cincinnati Art Museum hosted the special exhibit Hanten & Happi: Traditional Japanese Work Clothes. The exhibition featured highly decorated, sashiko-stitched hanten, or fireman coats, painted with mythological figures and animals and happi, or everyday work coats, dyed in indigo and decorated with geometric designs and calligraphic characters.
