O- or GO- before a word is an honorific prefix.
-SAMA instead of -SAN after a person's name or title is also an honorific.

In some cases it indicates extra politeness:
o-kyakusama instead of kyakusama or kyakusan

In other cases, it's just become the way the word is used:
GOHAN = rice or meal
